benchmark test

today we on the rest of the benchmark test and it was hard. I first had to finish two writing parts of the test which were talking about the change in America's trading. and the other writing prompt was talking about the effects of trading and not being isolated from the other countries that were beneficial. we had an introduction to the last question which is an essay and the teacher helped us with building up the introduction and helping us figure out how the type the essay. today was right but I have to complete my essay this Thursday.

bench mark test

today we took the benchmark test It was easy however, we had to 4 writing prompts. the first reading prompt was easy however, the writing part was a little difficult. we had to describe some parts of the passage and then restate. the other questions were difficult the farther you went into the benchmark test. today was a good day however, we still have the other half of the test to do tomorrow.

claim notes

today we learned how to start a claim and what are the different types of claims. In the first part of making an argument, you have to start with the claim and then have your evidence. then you have to explain the evidence and then have more evidence then explain your evidence.  we also talk about the explanation, such as how the explanation should be opinionative and accurate. the evidence can also be about your life experience or something you have read or seen.

argumentative lesson

today we learned more about arguments by analysing if an ad or commercial was ethos pathos or logos. we watched ads about candidates for president and senator, and most of the ads were pathos and ethos. pathos means that the audience is appealed to by emotion and ethos means the audience is appealed by credibility and achievements. then we took notes on claims and how most claims can not be argued about like the sun is hot. today was an alright day however I know that tomorrow we are going to finish the lesson.

argumentative notes

today, we took notes on a new topic which is arguments, and how to write an argumentive essay. we defined what an argument is and that arguments can be me about anything and everything. in an argument, you need a topic, the speaker, the purpose, and the audience. however, some arguments cannot persuade other people like abortions, getting a tattoo, or even buying something. we also talked about rhetorical analysis which is the art of arguing effectively.

work

today we had a substitute and we had to do a worksheet with vocabulary and 20 questions on the back. we had to write the vocabulary down on a sheet of paper. then go to the back and write the sentences from the worksheet and fill in the blank with a whole different set of vocabulary in the front of the paper. the problem I had with the assignment was that we had to write down the first vocabulary and then use a whole different set of words that we didn't comprehend. however today was alright, but if I had some more instruction I could understand the assignment.

test day

today we, took our second test of the semester in American literature. the test was on Emily Dickinson and 3 of her poems, which were really hard to comprehend. the first poem was a little bit hard but some of the questions did not go with the poem, such as which of the poems we haven't read in the class. the second poem was mostly talking about life and making mistakes in life but some of the quotes were confusing. the last poem was the hardest because it would describe something and then talk about a person and death, plus the question made it more perplexing.

quote class work

today we work on the rest of the quotes from yesterday. we had to complete the rest of the quotes we didn't finish yesterday. I did 16 of them until the bell rang however some of the quotes did not make any sense. most of the quotes were talking about life choices and taking risks in your decisions. today was an alright day and more work will given and I have to do it.

quote anitate

today we worked on how to analyze quotes and break them down to find the theme of it. we first turned in the rest of our projects then got on Illuminate. the teacher gave us 20 quotes to work with, and he worked the first three quotes out with the class. the first two were confusing and I didn't understand until we broke it down.  today was a good day however I know tomorrow is going to be a hard day.

poem presentation day

today we presented our poem on pagers to the class. the first person that was supposed to go first did it and the teacher was using a wheel to decide who was going next. a whole lot of people today didn't have their projects done, so the teacher had to just choose from the papers. today six people went and presented their projects, their projects were vibrant and neat. i presented my project today, however i didn't have enough time because the class was about to end.

poem project in progress

today  we worked on our projects and reviewed some of the poems. i did an outline with crosses and a gun that was shooting bullets at the crosses. the visual picture of the project was going to be a person praying, however i changed my mind. the visual that i made was a big cross in the middle of the page with God's eyes and a person's eyes crying. Today's class was alright but could have been better.

poem project

today we were given an assignment  where we had to annotate  the poem and then do a one page. I was given a poem that was called that my life had stood- a loaded gun. It was mainly about how a person's life was in shambles but when they found god their life turned around. the theme was live your life to the fullest and don't torment other people in the process. the actions you make  in life can make others life horrible.

poem notes pt3

today we took notes on another  poem named "Success is counted sweetest" by Emily Dickson. What I learned from the poem is that if you don't have success you will value it more. the mean of that is struggle makes you value something for life, before you learn how to win you have to learn how to lose. the theme of the poem is success is a personal value ( my measure of success is different from others.the poem was inspiring to think bigger in life and stride for bigger things.
